Healthcare Leadership Academy Strengthens Clinicians ’ Business Skills
The roles and responsi bilities of physicians are changing at a dramatic pace. A host of evolving factors require physicians to learn and lead, including shifting from the a utonomous practice of medicine to clinical coordination, patients using the internet to assess treatment decisions and quality of care, and financial risk and incentives for managing patient populations.
Developed by th e Michigan Health & Hospital Association, the Michigan State University Eli Broad College of Business and College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the Michigan Osteopathic Association, the Healthcare Leadership Academy: Business Strategy for a Changing Landscape is a leadership program for existing and emerging h ealthcare leaders, including physicians and clinicians. The program focuses on developing participants’ knowledge of value-driven care delivery and financing models; cultivating participants’ decision-making, conf lict management, team building, communication and negotiating skills; and h elping participants understand their leadership strengths and weaknesses an d coaching to expand their skills.
