IN PERSON REGISTRATION - October 4AGENDA/SYLLABUSPRE-REGISTER FOR ON DEMAND (starts October 16)Purpose: Bringing the concept of general wellness into our practice with an emphasis on lifestyle medicine in Michigan. Developed in partnership by the Michigan State Medical Society and the Michigan Osteopathic Association, this 7-hour conference will focus on bringing the concept of general wellness into the physician’s practice with an emphasis on lifestyle medicine in Michigan.Lifestyle Medicine and Functional Medicine are evidence-based approaches to preventing, treating, and reversing diseases by replacing unhealthy behaviors with positive ones. Both medical practices focus on six areas of human behavior: eating healthfully, being physically active, managing stress, avoiding risky substance use (tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drug use), getting adequate sleep, and having healthy relationships or a strong support system. The goal of lifestyle and functional medicine is to use therapeutic lifestyle behavior changes as the primary modality to address the root cause of chronic disease. Lifestyle Medicine and Functional Medicine are not currently mainstream medical practices and will become even more important as the burden of chronic disease continues to rise nationally and globally. The in-person conference is limited to 50 participants. If you can't join us in person, the conference will be offered on demand beginning October 16, 2024.
